Shelli’s 22 Days Success Story

Our 22 Days Vegan Success Story this week is from Shelli, a busy actress in Los Angeles. Because of her busy lifestyle, Shelli, along with her girlfriend Dee, decided to challenge themselves to 22 Days of our Vegan Meal Delivery. In the process, Shelli lost 12 pounds and Dee lost 15 pounds! Shelli Boone22 Days Nutrition: Tell us a little bit about yourself.

Shelli: I am a woman who is always on the go. As a working actress in Los Angeles, my days are mostly spent in the car traveling the city for auditions.  At night, I work as a bartender. This doesn't leave me much time to cook or grocery shop.  My girlfriend is also very busy and works at night so we don't always get to enjoy meals together during the week.

22D: Which 22 Days Vegan Challenge program did you follow?

S: We decided to try the 22-Day Vegan Meal Delivery because it was most convenient and easy to follow.

22D: How did you hear about us?

S: I am a huge Beyoncé fan, so I first learned of 22 Days Nutrition when she announced it online.  I decided to research the program further and found it was something that I could try as well.

22D: Why did you choose to try a 22 Days Vegan Challenge?

S: I am in my thirties now and my metabolism has slowed way down.  I found that I had put on weight and no matter what I did as far as diet and exercise, the extra pounds would just not come off.  I was also in a slump, feeling tired and sluggish, and just overall unhappy with my health.  22 Days Nutrition seemed to fit all my needs at once - a way to gain energy, jump start weight loss and focus more on health and balanced eating.  The fact that a summer vacation full of bikinis is just around the corner didn't hurt either!

22D: How long have you been following the 22 Days Vegan principles?

S: We ordered 22 days of the Vegan Meal Delivery plan.  It has been just a week since we finished the plan and we are still planning on following the plant-based principles at least 3 to 4 days out of the week going forward.  It's not as hard as I thought to incorporate more fruits and vegetables in my diet and to eliminate sugary snacks and needless dairy.

22D: Tell us a little bit about your average day now that you’re following a plant-based diet.

S: Focusing on my health overall has made me want to exercise more.  On an average day, I will do at least 45 minutes of cardio or take a class (aerobics, yoga, cardio barre).  I try to work out now at least four times a week.  I enjoy granola (usually dry) or oatmeal for breakfast, a simple salad or brown rice-based meal for lunch and a big plate of veggies for dinner.  I like to make the veggies spicy with some chili flakes - yum!  I found eating vegan also has reduced my alcohol intake significantly.  Finishing the program makes you want to keep the results of feeling lighter and more energetic so you start to really think about what you are putting in your body.

22D: How has following a 22 Days Vegan Challenge impacted your life?

S: I have finally gotten back to the old me!  I lost 12 pounds and I look and feel great! I can get back into all of my old clothes! I plan to keep it off.  It gives me the confidence to know that I can be healthy and fit and at the same time feel satisfied and not feel like I'm depriving myself.  It made me appreciate fruits and veggies in a whole new way.  I swear I would visit the drive-through at least two to three times a week and now I haven't even thought about visiting a fast food place in over a month.  An apple is just a satisfying to me now as some fries.  Knowing that you can have a plan for health going forward is empowering!

22D: What other health improvements have you seen?

S: People have been telling me that I have a glow!  And I see it too.  Besides losing weight, my skin has been clearer and softer (besides one bad breakout - I found out that I am allergic to soy).  I also sleep better and don't wake up tired and sluggish.  I actually want to get together with friends and exercise and I don't feel dehydrated like I used to.  I also notice that I discuss health with my friends more and am just more aware and conscious about the nutritional value of the food I eat.

22D: What words of encouragement do you have for others who are getting started or are considering a 22 Days Vegan Challenge?

S: Following the 22 Days Vegan Challenge isn't as hard as you think and YOU WILL see results.  I have tried several different types of diet plans and this is the one that has worked like a charm.  I definitely endorse this plan.  The Vegan Meal Delivery is a dream and a no-brainer.  All of the meals taste great (except I didn't care too much for the chia pudding) and are as simple as the touch of a button to prepare.  You might think that the cost is expensive but it is more than worth it with the results you see.  If there is any hesitation in your mind, feel at ease and know that you are going with a plan that works.  I did the meal delivery with my girlfriend and she lost 15 pounds!  It's great to have a partner to encourage you and keep you motivated. I'm very happy that I tried the 22 Days Vegan Challenge.  It will most likely be an annual thing for me now as well as staying vegan half the week.  I always looked at a plant-based diet as depriving oneself or not being tasty.  But now I realize that I have been missing out on a wonderful array of fresh fruits, vegetables and grains that can be delicious and way better for me.
