5 Reasons Why You Should Be Enjoying Green Smoothies
If you haven’t tried a “green” smoothie, you’re really missing out. Don’t let the green color scare you off. Green smoothies really do taste delicious and they offer your body extra vitamins and nutrients. So we’re challenging you to try a green smoothie and here are 5 reasons why:
1. They Have More Nutrition
By subbing out some fruit/juices for greens you help to enhance the nutrients in your smoothie. Higher (although natural) sugared fruit, when replaced with greens will provide you with more vitamins and minerals with less sugar – especially if you replace fruit juices with greens.
2. You'll Eat More Veggies
Many people have trouble getting the requisite 5-9 servings of vegetables per day. A green smoothie could be just the solution you need. By adding a handful of kale or spinach you can get 2 or more servings of vegetables, just like that. Have picky kids? Try green smoothies on them – we promise that they won’t even taste the greens.
3. You'll Have More Energy
Whether you start your day with a green smoothie or fit one in the afternoon when you’re starting to lag, you’ll find that green smoothies help to provide lasting, even energy. Unlike fruit-only smoothies, green smoothies won’t prompt a sugar rush, followed by the inevitable crash. For people who need to manage their sugar intake, like diabetics, a green smoothie can help provide even energy.
4. They Are More Filling
Including greens in your smoothies will up your fiber content, which in turn helps you to feel fuller, longer. Including green smoothies in your daily diet can you maintain a healthy weight, without the hunger pangs.
5. They Are Easy on Digestion
If you have issues with stomach irritability, a green smoothie is a great way to help your body get nutrients, without taxing your system. Since the ingredients are already blended, your digestive system can more readily absorb what it needs.
