3 Vegan Smoothie Bowls to Start Your Morning Off Right

At 22 Days Nutrition, we love smoothie bowls! Not only are they super delicious; they are also a great way to start your day off on a nutritious note. Which is why we’ve pulled together our top three smoothie bowl recipes for you to enjoy.

Each bowl makes use of our new plant-based protein powder, Plant Power, so your body has all the fuel and building blocks it needs to stay healthy. You can pick up a tub in Chocolate, Vanilla or Strawberry at your local Target or at Target.com.

Tropical Sunrise Smoothie Bowl

You can almost taste the tropical sun when you enjoy this smoothie bowl for breakfast! This delicious smoothie is the one featured in the photo above.
Serves 1
Ingredients:

1 scoop of Strawberry Plant Power protein powder
½ cup frozen mango
½ cup frozen peaches
½ cup frozen strawberries
½ cup plant-based milk (coconut tastes especially nice with this blend)

Optional Toppings:

1-2 tablespoons granola
1-2 tablespoons nuts
1 tablespoon hemp, pumpkin or sunflower seeds
1 tablespoon dried unsweetened coconut flakes
1 banana
2-3 strawberries
¼ cup mango

Preparation:

1. Place all ingredients into a blender (or food processor) and blend until desired consistency.
2. Pour into a bowl.
3. Top with toppings of choice.

 

Chocolate Pudding Smoothie Bowl

Chocolate for breakfast? Count us in! Raw cacao serves up a healthy dose of antioxidants and iron, and when you add in all of the other ingredients, this tastes like a decadent treat.  

Serves 1

Ingredients:

1 scoop of Chocolate Plant Power protein powder
1 frozen banana
1 tablespoon raw cacao powder or cocoa powder
1 tablespoon chia seeds
1-2 medjool dates, pitted
½ cup plant-based milk

Optional Toppings:

1-2 tablespoons nuts (walnuts, pecans and almonds are great with this blend)
1 tablespoon dried unsweetened coconut flakes
2-3 strawberries
½ tablespoon cacao nibs

Preparation:

1. Place all ingredients into a blender (or food processor) and blend until desired consistency.
2. Pour into a bowl.
3. Top with toppings of choice.
 

Blue & Green Smoothie Bowl

Mixing two powerhouse plant-based foods, blueberries and spinach, creates one super nutritious smoothie bowl. Just a heads up, blending blue and green also makes for a grayish colored smoothie –trust us, it still tastes phenomenal!  

Serves 1

Ingredients:

1 scoop of Vanilla Plant Power protein powder
1 frozen banana
¾ cup frozen blueberries
1 cup spinach
½ cup plant-based milk

Optional Toppings:

1-2 tablespoons nuts (pecans and almonds are great options)
¼ cup fresh strawberries, blueberries, raspberries or blackberries
1 sliced kiwi
1-2 tablespoons seeds (pumpkin or sunflower are good choices)

1. Place all ingredients into a blender (or food processor) and blend until desired consistency.
2. Pour into a bowl.
3. Top with toppings of choice.

Smoothie Bowl Tips

Smoothie bowls are a snap to make, but here are some tips to keep in mind.

  1. Pay attention to your measurements! It’s easy to add a dash of this and a bit of that, before you know it you could have a huge, calorie-laden bowl that might do more harm than good. By measuring your first few smoothie bowls you can rest easy knowing that your bowl is keeping you on track.
  2. Everyone has a different preference for texture. Try using less or more milk to get the right consistency. You might also like your smoothie bowl a little chunkier so you can taste the individual fruits.
  3. To make your smoothie bowl thicker, try using chia seeds, oatmeal, cooked quinoa or even avocado.
  4. Get creative! Once you try a few recipes, feel free to try your own blends that incorporate your favorite plant-based foods for a delicious and nutritious bowl.
